Sandhill Park

Sandhill Park Mansion is a Grade II listed Stately home set in 100 acres of parkland at the foot of the Quantock Hills in Somerset. Built in 1720 the building was used in the 20th Century as a prisoner of war camp, a children’s home and later as a military and civilian hospital. After the building became unoccupied it fell in to a state of disrepair, became derelict and subsequently was badly damaged by fire, caused by arson, in 2011.

A programme of works was begun to restore the main house along with surrounding buildings to their former glory and transform them into luxuriously appointed properties. Access scaffolding was required both outside and inside the building along with propping works to the ornate ceilings to prevent further damage.

In April 2012 SRK Scaffolding were selected as the contractor to carry out the scaffolding, temporary roof, and propping works and following commencement in May 2012 these works were completed within 10 weeks.

Due to the unstable nature of the building, with floors and stairs having been severely damaged by the fire, great care, diligence and expertise was required by the scaffolding team to provide the access solutions for the refurbishment works that were to follow.
